Nominations for 2026/2027 AHCA/NCAL Committees
September 2, 2025 through October 10, 2025 AHCA/NCAL members have the opportunity to nominate yourself or another member to serve on one or more of the following committees: Audit, Business Management Committee, Clinical Practice Committee, Constitution and Bylaws Committee, Credentialing Committee, Customer Experience Committee, Emergency Preparedness and Life Safety Committee, Independent Owner Council, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICFs/IID) Residential Services Providers Committee, Legal Committee, Not for Profit Council, Political Action and Involvement Committee, Quality Improvement Committee, Regional Multifacility Council, Reimbursement Committee, Survey/Regulatory Committee and Workforce Committee, NCAL Quality Committee and NCAL Policy and Regulatory Committee.
All AHCA/NCAL members are encouraged to participate in this process. In an effort to create diverse and widespread representation, appointments to specific committees may be limited to one participant per state and company. To assist in the process, individuals should be nominated for up to three committees. To submit your nominations, please complete the form.
All 2026/2027 committee appointments will be for a two-year term. In order to keep committee sizes at optimal levels, applicants are likely to be assigned to just one committee.

Committees Open for Nomination
Below are the committees eligible for nomination in 2026/2027, with a brief description of each.
Audit Committee
The AHCA Audit Committee assists the Board in connection with and has oversight of the integrity of the financial statements. The Committee is directly responsible for the appointment, compensation and supervision of the Association’s public accounting firm and resolves all disagreements between the Auditor and management of the Association in connection with the Association’s annual audit.
Business Management Committee
The Business Management Committee is responsible for assisting the Board in overseeing budget, investments, staff retirement plan and other financial matters of the AHCA.
Clinical Practice Committee
The purpose of the Clinical Practice Committee (CPC) is to identify and promote quality clinical practices. The CPC focuses on the most relevant and pressing clinical issues that reflect key priorities for AHCA/NCAL members. The committee accomplishes their work through networking, story sharing and the development of tools and resources. The committee also reviews and provides feedback on proposed rules, measures, etc. and provides clinical perspectives on issues as requested.
Constitution and Bylaws Committee
The Constitution and Bylaws Committee works on any proposed changes to the AHCA constitution and bylaws based on actions proposed by the AHCA Board of Governors, leadership or committees.
Credentialing Committee
The Credentialing Committee is responsible for the credentialing of the AHCA Board of Governors and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) Board of Directors. The committee meets once each year to begin the credentialing process. Additional conference calls are often necessary to finalize the credentials for all applicants.
Customer Experience Committee (CEC)
The purpose of the Customer Experience Committee (CEC) is to champion the importance of meeting customer expectations now and in the future. The CEC focuses on issues such as the adoption of coreQ and discussing current customer expectations and experiences across the continuum of care. The committee accomplishes their work through the development of tools and resources to support members in achieving high levels of customer satisfaction, by collecting, analyzing, and using data to drive performance improvement, and by promoting the use of successful practices.
Emergency Preparedness and Life Safety Committee
The purpose of the Emergency Preparedness and Life Safety (EP/LS) Committee is to advocate, educate, and provide feedback on a range of emergency preparedness (EP) and life safety (LS) issues. The EP/LS committee focuses on ensuring that long term care is a component of national EP plans and helping organizations improve their capabilities through supportive resources, while monitoring NFPA codes and standards, CMS adoption, and survey interpretations.
Independent Owner (IO) Council
The IO Council includes representatives from around the country who own 10 or fewer skilled nursing and/or assisted living centers. The IO Council advises AHCA regarding the best ways to improve services to their IO peers and help them provide the highest quality services to the residents and families they serve.
Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD) Residential Services Committee
The ID/DD Committee drives AHCA’s strategies as they relate to individuals with ID/DD and their providers of residential services, including ICFs/IID and group homes. The Committee integrates its work with other AHCA committees, promotes the value of providing services in different settings, and enhances recognition of AHCA as the advocate for ID/DD residential services providers.
Legal Committee
The Legal Committee uses its expertise to research and review legal issues that could affect AHCA and the long term care profession. It develops proactive legal strategies, evaluates the need for litigation, makes recommendations on legal counsel, serves as a network for information sharing, and manages the Legal Fund. Committee members must be attorneys.
NCAL Policy and Regulatory Committee
The NCAL Policy and Regulatory Committee addresses legislative and regulatory developments that may affect the assisted living profession, including Medicaid changes and regulations from OSHA, DOL, and others. The committee develops resources for members, monitors trends, and provides a forum for discussion of state-level developments and effective advocacy strategies.
NCAL Quality Committee
The NCAL Quality Committee focuses on quality improvement programs to enhance care in assisted living communities. The committee develops quality measures, encourages participation in LTC Trend Tracker, oversees the NCAL Quality Initiative, and supports assisted living involvement in the AHCA/NCAL Quality Awards Program.
Not for Profit (NFP) Council
The NFP Council focuses on the unique needs of not-for-profit providers. It empowers NFP members through specialized expertise, strengthens AHCA member services, cultivates leadership, and provides support services to meet the needs of the NFP constituency.
Political Action and Involvement Committee (PAIC)
The PAIC is AHCA/NCAL’s grassroots and political advocacy group, supporting government relations priorities. The committee has three subcommittees—Fundraising, Events, and Advocacy—focused on raising PAC funds, organizing events, developing disbursement plans, and maintaining a strong grassroots program to engage members in political advocacy.
Quality Improvement Committee (QIC)
The QIC promotes effective, evidence-based practices and process improvement methods. It focuses on QAPI, Baldrige criteria, and other quality measures. The committee develops tools and resources, selects the annual Mary K. Ousley Champion of Quality Award recipient, and reviews proposed rules and measures.
Regional Multifacility Council
The Regional Multifacility Council represents members with 11 or more facilities. It advises AHCA on improving services to this constituency, engages members in advocacy, political action, and education, and helps plan key events such as Multifacility Conferences and the AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention.
Reimbursement Committee
The Reimbursement Committee addresses Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid payment policy, focusing on strategic, technical, and operational issues. It reviews current and proposed policy positions, advises on reimbursement research priorities, and helps translate findings into AHCA policy.
Survey/Regulatory Committee
The S/R Committee advocates for changes to the survey/enforcement system to improve resident quality of life. It reviews legislation, regulations, and guidance impacting nursing centers, assists AHCA in drafting comments, and develops resources to support members in compliance and enforcement issues.
Workforce Committee
The Workforce Committee addresses staff stability, retention, and engagement in long term care. It develops tools and resources, promotes best practices, and evaluates workforce strategies to help members improve staff performance. Members are workforce experts and the committee meets regularly by phone and at the Quality Summit.

2. Login
Login to the award with your email and password.
3. Create
Create your online application.
4. Save
During the Call for Applications period, your application can be saved as DRAFT until all the required information is completed and attachments uploaded. As each section is complete, you will see a appear in the category tab when the application is saved. At any time, you can download and print your application by clicking on the
icon in the Application Summary section.
5. Submit
On completion, save your Application as FINAL. Download and print a copy of your application for your records by clicking on the icon in the Application Summary section in the right column. Note: If an update is required prior to the Call for Applications period, you can make the update and resave as FINAL.
